Hamlin Companies began in October 1954 with the formation
of the Hamlin Sheet Metal Company. Begun by W. Fred Hamlin,
Sr. as a sole proprietorship, Hamlin Sheet Metal Company offered
contract "roofing and sheet metal" services.

July 1, 1962: Hamlin Sheet Metal Company was incorporated
under the laws of the State of North Carolina. As president
and general manager, W. Fred Hamlin held 99% of the stock.
The company continued to grow and prosper.

July 1, 1968: Hamlin Roofing Company was
formed as a separate entity to handle the contract roofing
business and facilitate cost accounting. Hamlin Sheet Metal
Company continued to operate to handle sheet metal contracts.

Hamlin Roofing Company moved into a new headquarters at 1521
Gavin St. while Hamlin Sheet Metal Company continued to occupy
501 Pershing Rd. The companies' founder, W. Fred Hamlin, retained
control over 80% of the Hamlin Roofing Company stock and allocated
20% to William F. Hamlin, Jr.

1972: Hamlin Sheet Metal Company and Hamlin Roofing Company
moved to the current location of The Hamlin Companies at 1411
West Garner Rd, in Garner, North Carolina. This new location
had 3,000 square feet of office space and 12,000 square feet
of warehouse space. This allowed the companies to share administrative
and accounting staff.

1972: A high-profile project for Hamlin Roofing Company was
awarded with the replacement of the North Carolina State Capitol
Building roof. This was a complete removal of the copper roof
that was installed in 1830 and replaced with 40,000 lbs of
copper standing and batten seam roofing

July 1976: W. Fred Hamlin, Sr. announced his retirement from
active management of the two companies. William F. Hamlin,
Jr. was granted ownership over 100% of the Hamlin Roofing
stock and assumed the responsibilities of general manager
for Hamlin Sheet Metal and Hamlin Roofing.

1982: Another important win for Hamlin Roofing Company was
the Consolidated Diesel contract. The company installed a
new built-up roofing system on the new plant near Rocky Mount,
North Carolina.

1984: William F. Hamlin, Jr. purchased his father's stock
in Hamlin Sheet Metal Company making him the sole owner of
both companies.

1985: A third generation of Hamlin's joined the business
when William F. Hamlin, III began working summers at the company
doing odd jobs.

1990: William F. Hamlin, III began work on a roofing crew.
He worked on a metal roof on the Triangle Bank in Cameron
Village and a single ply roof on North Carolina Biotech.

1994: William F. Hamlin, III became a project manager for
Hamlin Roofing Company. He managed one of Hamlin Roofing Company's
largest jobs, the Lowe's Distribution Center in Statesville,
North Carolina. He was also the project manager for the Entertainment
and Sports Arena now called the RBC Center.

1985: Ultratech Industries was acquired to incorporate a
leading provider of flow measurement and control devices into
the Hamlin Sheet Metal Company portfolio.

1998: Hamlin Sheetmetal opens 70,000 sq. ft. manufacturing
facility in Benson, NC.

2000: Weatherguard Roofing in Andersen, South Carolina was
acquired to expand coverage for Hamlin Roofing Company.

2001: The Hamlin Companies' employees, customers, and friends
mourn the passing of the Hamlin Companies' founder: W. Fred Hamlin, Sr.

Since those early days in 1954, the strong family leadership
of the Hamlin Companies has supported the company through
growth, expansion, and acquisitions to become a true leader
in sheet metal and roofing products and services.

Hamlin Roofing Company is regularly recognized as providing
innovative, high-quality roofing contract services. Hamlin
Sheet Metal provides a broad range of products manufactured
in a state-of-the-art plant in Benson.

William F. Hamlin, Sr., the Hamlin Companies' shared mission
